Privacy Policy

SyncCity — Last updated: March 16, 2026

1. Who We Are

SyncCity is operated by an individual based in Switzerland. If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at: info@synccity.org

2. What Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the service.

Account & identity data (when you register or log in via Google or Apple):

  • Name and email address provided by your social login provider
  • Profile photo (if shared by your provider)
  • A unique identifier from the provider (e.g. Google ID)

Service data (created when you use SyncCity):

  • Sport preferences and activity types
  • Availability windows you set in the app
  • Post-outing ratings and feedback you submit

Technical data (collected automatically):

  • Device type, operating system, and app version
  • IP address and usage logs (for security and troubleshooting)

Location data:

  • Your device location is accessed on-device only to display your position on the in-app map
  • Location data is never transmitted to our servers and is never stored

3. Why We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes:

  • To create and manage your account
  • To match you with compatible users for sport outings
  • To send you outing invitations and app notifications
  • To improve matching quality using your feedback and ratings
  • To comply with legal obligations

Legal basis under GDPR / Swiss nFADG: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) for core service functions; legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for security and service improvement; consent where required (e.g. push notifications).

4. Social Login (Google & Apple)

When you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive limited profile information from those providers (name, email, profile photo, unique ID). We do not receive your passwords. We use this data only to create and identify your account. Your use of these login methods is also governed by Google's and Apple's respective privacy policies.

5. Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it only in these limited cases:

  • Other SyncCity users — your first name, sport preferences, and outing ratings are visible to matched users within the app
  • Infrastructure providers — hosting and database services necessary to run the app (bound by data processing agreements)
  • Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect legal rights

If we use third-party analytics or crash reporting tools in the future, this policy will be updated before such tools are activated.

6. How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Account data: retained for the duration of your account, plus up to 12 months after deletion to handle disputes or legal obligations
  • Outing ratings and feedback: retained for up to 24 months to maintain matching quality
  • Usage and technical logs: retained for up to 12 months
  • Location data: not retained — processed on-device only

7. Your Rights

Under GDPR and Swiss nFADG, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at: info@synccity.org. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We will notify you without undue delay if a data breach occurs that is likely to affect your rights and freedoms.

9. Children

SyncCity is not intended for anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you become aware that a child has registered, please contact us and we will delete their data promptly.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed by infrastructure providers outside Switzerland or the EEA. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) in accordance with GDPR and Swiss nFADG requirements.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you by email and update the date at the top of this page before changes take effect. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
